June 18th, 2009 22:52

Current political situation in the country and in the conflict regions has been discussed at the meeting of Georgian speaker Davit Bakradze and Pierre Morel. Members of the parliamentary majority have also attended the meeting with the EU special representative.

`We should achieve success with all participants at the 6th round Geneva talks`, Pierre Morel said after the meeting with the Georgian speaker. He also said, `the Geneva discussions are more necessary than ever`, and added that the participants are preparing for the talks.

Peter Semneby, the EU special representative in the South Caucasus said, the Russian veto will obviously increase significance of the EU monitoring mission in Georgia.

`The latest developments with the UN veto have obviously changed the situation and I cannot say what conclusions exactly we will draw out of that. The EU is certainly going to continue to take its responsibility`, Peter Semneby said.
