July 13th, 2009 22:21

Georgian Foreign Ministry has released a special statement regarding the visit of the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to the occupied Tskhinvali region. Medvedev arrived in the conflict zone under the invitation of the separatist leader Eduard Kokoity today.
Georgian Foreign Ministry has assessed the visit as another cynical attempt of legalizing the puppet regimes on Georgia`s occupied territories.
It is notable that this provocation took place a few days after the meeting of the Russian and the US presidents, where Russia was called upon to follow the international rules on international arena and to respect the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Medvedve`s visit to Tskhinvali is a challenge of international community by Russia and confirmation that Russia ignores norms and principles of international law.
Georgian Ministry expresses protest against the visit of the Russian president to the occupied region and calls upon international community to urge Russia follow legislative norms, comply with the commitments of the 6-point ceasefire document and de-occupy Georgian territories.
