EU Troika reiterates support to Georgia`s territorial integrity

The European Union supports Georgia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The leader of the EU Troika expressed the EU`s steady and unchangeable position at the summary briefing held on Saturday. Carl Bildt, the Sweden Foreign Minister said the EU`s purpose is to maintain stability in Georgia, assist implementing democratic reforms and support the course of eastern partnership and European integration.

The EU Troika has finished its three-day visit to Georgia. The European guests started their visit from Batumi, they held talks in Tbilisi as well. They met with the Georgian president and the speaker, held talks with Vice Premier Giorgi Baramidze and Deputy Foreign Minister Giga Bokeria. Extension and strengthening of the EU mission in Georgia, easing visa regime, signing the agreement on Georgia`s associated membership, free trade and the EU`s financial assistance to Georgia have been discussed at the meetings.

`We think that our main task is to continue democratic and market reforms with the European Union and keep the process of integration into the NATO. After this visit, we can say that their mandate will be extended and we are grateful for this support`, Giorgi Baramidze said.

`Our Troika reiterates the EU`s position that Europe supports Georgia`s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our main purpose is to achieve stability in Georgia. We are watching the current processes and helping Georgia to implement democratic reforms. This is the main task of the EU-Georgia relationship`, Carl Bildt said.
