We have gotten well used to being disappointed here at SOS (and in Georgia), but yesterday morning we, in particular the optimists among us, had high hopes

God bless you , whoever wrote this article. Life’s never been the same since the war started. We, Georgian NewYorkers, try to do the best we can from here. Some people even disconnected Russian television. We need suggestions about how we can help from here.
This war united all the Georgians abroad. One notification and all the Georgians are wherever they have to be. But this is not enough. We are capable of doing something more. We just need ideas.
Long Live Georgia! Let God help Georgia with his love and with his care.
My lunch break is over, I have to run.

I feel very upset and enangered to see US and EU leaders not support Georgia stronger. Russia changed the name of its political system, but not its nature. I grew up in Denmark during the cold war and will never forget the fear of living so near the Soviet Union. Russia remains, so Putin and Medvedev clearly show us, psychotic, hyperaggressive, imperialistic, megalomanic and in total contempt for democracy and freedom. The West must support the young Eastern democracies, of which Georgia one of several admirable examples, and we must do it now. Or it will be too late. If NATO will not support a serious applicant for membership in any useful form when the latter is attacked, will NATO then defend recently accepted members such as Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia should these be attacked? Will NATO defend Denmark if it is attacked? I am ashamed that such a strong collection of countries, claiming to believe in freedom, has taken no useful action whatsoever. Sarkozy’s bragging about the Russian’s signing his 6 point deal reminded me of only one thing, Chamberlain coming back and waving the paper Hitler signed.
